AI agents didn’t really “click” for me until I thought about it like this.
I’m trying to get from Apple to Zebra in a traditional, deterministic way, but there’s a lot of fiddly edge cases and conditionals because neither the Apple nor the process is as well-defined as we’d like (first picture). With agents, we give them each a job and maybe a few tools, put them all in a big circus tent, tell them to work together, and toss in the Apple (second picture). We wait a few minutes and, poof, out pops a Zebra. And, very rarely, a Gnu. Okay, it’s slightly more complicated, but it helps me if I can reduce it to emojis and circus tents.
